With the increasing demand of connector market, it also plays an important role in various industries. We all know the application of pin seat connector, but few people know its basic performance, which can be divided into three categories: mechanical performance, electrical performance and environmental performance.

1. Mechanical properties as far as the connection function is concerned, the insertion and extraction force is an important mechanical property. Insertion force is divided into insertion force and pull-out force. There are provisions of insertion force and minimum separation force in relevant standards, indicating that the insertion force should be small, but if the separation force is too small, the contact reliability will be affected. Another important mechanical property is the mechanical life of the connector. Mechanical life is actually a durability index, which is called mechanical operation in GB 5095. It takes one plug-in and one pull-out as a cycle to judge whether the connector can normally complete its connection function after the specified plug-in cycle.

The insertion force and mechanical life of the connector are related to the coating quality of the contact part of the contact structure and the dimension accuracy of the contact device.

2. Electrical properties the main electrical properties of connectors include contact resistance, insulation resistance and electrical strength.

(1) Contact resistance high quality electrical connector should have low and stable contact resistance. The contact resistance of the connector ranges from a few milliohm to tens of milliohm.

(2) Insulation resistance is an index used to measure the insulation performance between contacts of electrical connector and between contact and shell. Its order of magnitude ranges from hundreds of megohm to billions of ohm.

(3) Electrical strength, or withstand voltage and dielectric withstand voltage, refers to the ability of the connector contacts or between the contacts and the shell of row seat and row pin to withstand the rated test voltage.

④ Other electrical properties.

EMI leakage attenuation is to evaluate the EMI shielding effect of connector, which is generally tested in the frequency range of 100MHz ~ 10GHz.

RF coaxial connector has characteristic impedance, insertion loss, reflection coefficient, VSWR and other electrical indicators. With the development of digital technology, in order to connect and transmit high-speed digital pulse signal, a new type of connector, namely high-speed signal connector, appears. Therefore, in terms of electrical performance, in addition to the characteristic impedance, there are also some new electrical indicators, such as crosstalk hysteresis.
